Kitronik :MOVE Motor Klaw Kit

Manufacturer: Kitronik
The :MOVE Motor Klaw provides a fun and easy to install addition to the Kitronik :MOVE Motor buggy for microbit. It has been carefully designed to have the ability to fit both vertically and horizontally with one bolt. Included are two types of Klaw attachments for each of these builds.

It is controlled by a low voltage servo which is included, this servo is used to open and close the Klaw. The voltage supply and control signal are all from the :MOVE Motor via the pin headers, simply connect the servo lead onto the pin headers.

The :MOVE Motor Klaw can be coded with MakeCode or with MicroPython and we have produced online guides to walk you through both. These guides can be found in the list of resources below along with the build instructions.

Picture of 30cm Male to Female Servo Extension Cable

30cm Male to Female Servo Extension Cable

    KI 4157
This 30cm servo extension cable has three 22-AWG wires joining a male Futaba J connector and a female JR connector. Since a female JR connector can be plugged into a male Futaba J connector, each end of the cable is compatible with both Futaba and JR-style connections; this cable will work as an extension cable in either system or as an adapter between systems, and it is compatible with almost all of the servos in the Kitronik range

The connectors have contacts on a 0.1" spacing, and each wire is comprised of 60 strands, making this cable more flexible than standard servo cables.

    Features:
  • Compatible with all standard servo types including a Mini 180 degree servo.
  • Also compatible with a Mini 360 degree continous rotation servo.

  • Servo cable colour convention:
  • Brown or black = ground (GND, battery negative terminal).
  • Red = servo power (Vservo, battery positive terminal).
  • Orange, yellow, white, or blue = servo control signal line

Picture of Kitronik MOVE Line Following Board

    Kitronik MOVE Line Following Board

    KI 5629
Add line following to your BBC microbit Robot/buggy projects with the :Move Line Following Board for BBC micro:bit. Although designed with the :MOVE mini in mind, this board can be used to add line following to any micro:bit buggy. If adding line following to the :MOVE mini, you will need the Line Following add-on for :MOVE mini instead. This is because the fixings for the :MOVE mini are not included in this kit.

The board can be used to either follow a dark line on a light background or a light line on a dark background. For best results, ensure there is approx. 5mm clearance between the bottom of the board and the driving surface. The sensitivity of the line following can be adjusted via the two onboard pots, one for each detector. The same pots are also used to change the type of line that will be followed; to detect darker, turn the pot clockwise and to detect lighter, turn the pot anti-clockwise.

The board has an operating voltage (Vcc) of 3V and is rated for a max current of less than 1mA. There are two output channels via a 5 pin output that has the following configuration; 0V / Left Detector / 3V / Right Detector / 0V.

    Features:
  • Add line following to your microbit Robot/buggy.
  • Can be attached directly to the underside of the :MOVE mini.
  • Can either follow a dark line on a light background or a light line on a dark background.
  • The line following sensitivity can be adjusted with a screwdriver.
  • No Soldering is required.
  • Example line following code is provided.

  • Dimensions:
  • Length: 43.7mm.
  • Width: 31.5mm.
  • Max height: 5.7mm
  • Pin Header Pitch: 2.54mm.

Picture of Kitronik STOP:bit Traffic Light for BBC micro:bit

Kitronik STOP:bit Traffic Light for BBC micro:bit

    KI 5642
The STOP:bit for the BBC micro:bit is the ultimate upgrade for traffic light/pedestrian crossing projects. Not only does it make coding the project a breeze, but the board is also supplied pre-assembled so you don't even need to fire up the soldering iron. Love it or hate it, variations of the pedestrian crossing project have been around for decades. When I did mine, it was on a 6502 EMMA board and coded with Assembly and it also included a level crossing. Thankfully, tapping low-level programming languages into a hexadecimal keypad is now a thing of the past. The Kitronik STOP:bit is a purpose-built accessory that can only lead to a more enjoyable project with a nicer looking end result.
