The Scanmarker Reader pen scans a line of text and immediately reads aloud that text through a web based application on a computer or smartphone. Works in over 100 languages, including Irish. On the app, scanned text can be spoken aloud and manipulated for better viewing with changes to background colour, font size and word and line spacing. Voice speed and selection can also be changed. Includes typoscope-like guide to help the pen track a specific line of text.

The Read Live feature helps improve oral language skills especially by adapting the speed of reading to suit the individual preference helps in developing vocabulary and improve the level of higher-level language skills.
