Improvements have been made to the Robot Battery that lets your competition robots run for even longer, the wireless controller that enables operation and testing of robot builds, and the Optical and Distance Sensors that enhance detection capabilities. Even though we have made many improvements to the electronics, IQ is still forwards and backwards compatible with the 1st generation electronics.

Pneumatics deliver fast and powerful linear motion that is useful in a variety of applications. Use pneumatics to power your robot's claw, intake deployment, or any mechanism that requires quick motion. In particular, pneumatics are useful in applications requiring only two positions (open/closed, up/down, etc.)
The IQ Robot Battery powers the IQ Robot Brain. 7.2v 2,000 mAh Lithium Ion Built-in charge indicator lights USB-C Charging. Requires a USB power adapter and a USB-C cable. Charge time is approximately two hours
The IQ Optical Sensor is a combination of ambient light, color, proximity and gesture sensor. Color information is available as RGB, hue and saturation or grayscale. Color detection works best when the object is closer than 100mm. The proximity sensor measures reflected light intensity, and as such, the values will change with ambient light and object reflectivity. The Optical Sensor has a white LED to assist color detection in low light conditions. The gesture sensor can detect one of four possible gestures, an object (hand or otherwise) moving up, down, left or right over the sensor. The IQ Optical Sensor works with both IQ Robot Brains (1st and 2nd generation).

The Smart Motor does more than just make your wheels spin or arm move. The built in processor, quadrature encoder and current monitor allow for advanced control and feedback through the Robot Brain.
