The ELECFREAKS micro:bit Retro Programming Arcade Controller combines game design and remote-control programming in one handheld expansion board for micro V2.
Students can use Microsoft MakeCode Arcade to design characters, backgrounds and game rules, then download their creations to the micro:bit and play offline. The TFT colour screen, four directional buttons, two A/B buttons and reset button provide familiar controls for testing and playing their games.
The controller can also be programmed to operate compatible micro:bit robot cars, giving learners opportunities to explore wireless communication and control.
Jacdac connectivity and crocodile clip connection points support further electronics projects. The kit includes acrylic covers, button caps, assembly fixings, a screwdriver and instructions, adding a practical assembly activity before coding begins.
Online ELECFREAKS tutorials and example games help students get started, making the controller useful for classroom coding activities and STEM clubs.
Requires a micro:bit V2, sold separately, and 3 AAA batteries. Remote-control activities require a compatible robot and its own micro:bit.
