The Bee-Bot / Blue-Bot Pusher 6 Pack extends the possibilities of your programmable floor robots by allowing pupils to use their code to interact with physical objects.

Each pusher simply clips onto a Bee-Bot or Blue-Bot, enabling the robot to push suitable objects as it moves. Instead of programming Bee-Bot only to reach a destination, pupils can be challenged to transport an object from one location to another, adding an extra level of planning and problem-solving to coding activities.

This creates a clear connection between the instructions pupils program and their real-world outcome. Children need to consider not only where Bee-Bot should travel, but also its starting position, direction and sequence of movements to successfully move the object to its destination.

If the object doesn't end up where expected, pupils can review their sequence, identify the problem and modify their program. This makes the pushers particularly useful for practising logical reasoning, prediction, testing and debugging. TTS specifically identifies problem-solving and creating and debugging programs among the learning opportunities supported by the resource.

With six rainbow-coloured pushers included, the pack is well suited to group work and schools with multiple Bee-Bots or Blue-Bots. The different colours can also be incorporated into sorting, matching and colour-recognition activities.

Classroom Activity Ideas

Create a simple delivery challenge by placing an object at one point and choosing a destination. Pupils must position Bee-Bot correctly and program it to push the object to the target.

For more challenging activities, introduce obstacles or several destinations, ask pupils to find the shortest successful sequence, or have groups design pushing challenges for their classmates to solve.
