More Information
The Bee-Bot / Blue-Bot Pen Holders 6pk add a creative new element to programmable floor robot activities, allowing pupils to see the path created by their code directly on paper.
Each holder is designed to attach to a Bee-Bot or Blue-Bot and securely position a pen so that the robot can draw as it moves. Instead of only watching where Bee-Bot travels, pupils can create a permanent visual record of the route they have programmed.
This provides teachers with an engaging way to explore the connection between coding, movement, maths and art. Pupils can predict the shape their sequence will create, enter their commands and then compare the finished drawing with their original prediction.
The pen holders are particularly useful when exploring 2D shapes, patterns, turns and angles. Children can investigate what happens when they change the number or order of commands, helping them understand how individual instructions affect the final result.
Drawing activities also provide an immediate way to spot errors in a program. If the resulting pattern isn't what pupils expected, they can examine the route, identify where their sequence needs to change and try again – making debugging a visible and accessible process.
Key Features
- Pack of 6 pen holders – Ideal for schools using multiple Bee-Bots or Blue-Bots.
- Transform your robot into a drawing tool – Create visible trails as Bee-Bot moves across paper.
- Combine coding and creativity – An engaging way to bring programming into art and maths activities.
- Explore shapes and patterns – Challenge pupils to program the robot to produce different geometric designs.
- Supports maths learning – Useful for exploring movement, direction, turns, angles and 2D shapes.
- Develops computational thinking – Encourages prediction, sequencing, testing and debugging.
- Immediate visual feedback – Pupils can see exactly how their programmed instructions affected the robot's route.
- Compatible with Bee-Bot and Blue-Bot – Designed for use with both TTS programmable floor robots.
Classroom Activity Ideas
Ask pupils to predict which commands are needed to draw a square or rectangle, then program Bee-Bot and compare the resulting drawing with their prediction.
Teachers can also challenge groups to create repeating patterns, experiment with different sequences or design a picture using a combination of straight movements and turns. The resulting drawings can then be compared to discuss how changing the code changes the outcome.
