The Inertial Sensor is a combination of a 3-axis (X,Y, and Z) accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope. The accelerometer measures linear acceleration of the robot (including gravity), while the gyroscope electronically measures the rate of rotation about the V5 inertial sensor three-axis.
The combination of these two devices in one sensor allows for effective and accurate navigation, as well as controlling any change in the motion of a robot.
V5 Smart Cables allow robot components such as motors and sensors to communicate with the Robot Brain. These are available to purchase at pre-cut short and long assortments, or create your own custom length wires with the V5 Crimping tool!
Connection V5 Smart Cables are used to connect the V5 Robot Brain to V5 Radio, V5 Motor, Vision Sensor, and other smart devices. V5 Smart Cables can also be used to tether a V5 Robot Brain to a V5 Controller, and to connect a V5 Controller to a second Controller for partnered driving.
Mechanisms such as flywheels and arms do not need large external gear ratios if the output shaft speed of the driving motor is already close to the desired speed or torque. Therefore, changing internal gear ratios to fit specific needs allows more efficient and compact mechanisms to be designed.
This cartridge has a 18:1 ratio, giving a maximum output speed of speed of 200 rpm. It is the standard gear ratio supplied in a V5 Smart Motor and is ideal for drive train applications.

The VEX IQ Robot Brain (1st Generation) is a revolution in robot control systems.
The VEX IQ Robot Brain has 12 identical Smart Ports. Plug any VEX IQ device into any port and the device is automatically detected - there are no dedicated input or output banks. Smart Port devices include: Smart Motor, Distance Sensor, Color Sensor, Gyro Sensor, Touch LED, and Bumper Switch.
The VEX IQ Brain comes loaded with default programs that get you up and running quickly. No computer or programming required. The Driver Control program gives you instant control of up to four drive motors and four additional mechanism motors, plus features for limit switches. Multiple pre-loaded autonomous programs will allow robots to move by themselves using sensors.
The backlit LCD makes VEX IQ simple to use. Using the 4-button interface, you can start your favorite program or configure the Driver Control program. Your VEXcode programs can write messages on-screen to customize your robot and simplify program debugging. Smartphone-like icons keep you in touch with your battery level and wireless connection.
The VEX Pin Tool makes working with VEX GO and VEX IQ pins and plastic even easier. Use the Pin Tool just as you would a pair of pliers. Simply place the tool over the pin you want to remove, squeeze, and pull!
The Pin Tool has two other useful features on its handles. One side can be used to pry two beams apart, while the other can be used to push out pins (such as a 0x2 capped connector) that the tool would normally not be able to grab.
