Welcome to the latest generation of Raspberry Pi: the everything computer!
Featuring a 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz, Raspberry Pi 5 delivers a 2–3× increase in CPU performance relative to Raspberry Pi 4. Alongside a substantial uplift in graphics performance from an 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU; dual 4Kp60 display output over HDMI; and state-of-the-art camera support from a rearchitected Raspberry Pi Image Signal Processor, it provides a smooth desktop experience for consumers, and opens the door to new applications for industrial customers.
For the first time, this is a full-size Raspberry Pi computer using silicon built in-house at Raspberry Pi. The RP1 “southbridge” provides the bulk of the I/O capabilities for Raspberry Pi 5, and delivers a step change in peripheral performance and functionality. Aggregate USB bandwidth is more than doubled, yielding faster transfer speeds to external UAS drives and other high-speed peripherals; the dedicated two-lane 1Gbps MIPI camera and display interfaces present on earlier models have been replaced by a pair of four-lane 1.5Gbps MIPI transceivers, tripling total bandwidth, and supporting any combination of up to two cameras or displays; peak SD card performance is doubled, through support for the SDR104 high-speed mode; and for the first time the platform exposes a single-lane PCI Express 2.0 interface, providing support for high-bandwidth peripherals.
This a a 4GB Board, there are other models available:

2-3x CPU performance increase The new 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor at the heart of Raspberry Pi 5 runs at 2.4GHz with cryptography extensions, 512KB per-core L2 caches and a 2MB shared L3 cache. This new Broadcom BCM2712 SoC (System on Chip) provides a 2-3x increase in performance over the previous generation of Raspberry Pi!
Improved graphics performance with dual 4Kp60 display output Raspberry Pi 5 delivers a substantial uplift in graphics performance from the 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU, connected to the BCM2712 via PCI Express. This allows Raspberry Pi 5 to offer full dual 4Kp60 display outputvia micro HDMI. These performance improvements provide a smooth desktop experience whilst browsing the internet and streaming videos.
Enhanced I/O capabilities including PCI-E! For the first time, this is a full-size Raspberry Pi computer using silicon built in-house at Raspberry Pi. The RP1 "southbridge" provides the bulk of the I/O capabilities for Raspberry Pi 5, and delivers a step change in peripheral performance and functionality.

Power button (finally!) Makers and enthusiasts have been asking for a dedicated onboard power button on the Raspberry Pi for as long as we can remember - and Raspberry Pi 5 finally delivers this much-requested convenience!
Real-time clock (RTC) A real-time clock (RTC) is built into the board, allowing you to maintain time/date information even when you power off or aren't connected to the internet (when a backup battery is connected). A dedicated header on the board has been added to allow the use of a backup battery for the RTC. A lithium battery with a compatible header will be available on, or shortly after, the launch of Raspberry Pi 5.
Dedicated fan header Raspberry Pi 5 includes a new dedicated fan header to the right of the familiar GPIO pin header, allowing you to connect and run a cooling fan without interfering with your GPIO-connected devices. Now you can add HATs and other hardware without workarounds to connect a fan.
Dedicated UART header Another handy addition to Raspberry Pi 5 is the dedicated UART header. Now you can debug and control your Raspberry Pi 5 headlessly and without interfering with your GPIO pins. This dedicated UART header also allows debugging from boot, and is designed to be used with the Raspberry Pi Debug probe for quick, convenient debugging.
Plus other improvements and changes
Mounting holes for coolers/heatsinks (designed for the Raspberry Pi Active Cooler)
Composite video header
Memory indication markers for easy board RAM identification
Unique board ID number on the board and packaging
Relocated PoE header
Audio jack removed
Flush(ish) underside to GPIO pins
Metal supporting tabs to protect components on the underside
The Raspberry Pi 7" Touchscreen Display adds a truly interactive visual capability to the Raspberry Pi. The potential applications are huge and will lead to the emergence of many new innovative projects including tablets, personalised infotainment systems and home automation projects.
To use this display with a Raspberry Pi 5, you will need to buy this adapter cable!
Features The 7” Touchscreen Monitor for Raspberry Pi gives users the ability to create all-in-one, integrated projects such as tablets, infotainment systems and embedded projects.
The 800 x 480 display connects via an adapter board which handles power and signal conversion. Only two connections to the Pi are required; power from the Pi’s GPIO port and a ribbon cable that connects to Raspberry Pi boards with a DSI connector (not compatible with the Raspberry Pi Zero) / Raspberry Pi 5 requires a separate cable)
Touchscreen drivers with support for 10-finger touch and an on-screen keyboard are integrated into the Raspberry Pi OS for full functionality without a physical keyboard or mouse.
Turn your Raspberry Pi into a touchscreen tablet, infotainment system, or standalone device
Truly Interactive - supports a virtual ‘on-screen’ keyboard, so there is no need to plug in a keyboard and mouse
Make your own ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) devices including a visual display. Simply connect your Raspberry Pi, develop a Python script to interact with the display, and you’re ready to create your own home automation devices with touchscreen capability
A range of educational software and programs available on the Raspberry Pi are touch-enabled, making learning and programming easier on the Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi Sense HAT gives your Raspberry Pi an array of sensing capabilities. The on-board sensors allow you to monitor pressure, humidity, temperature, colour, orientation, and movement. The bright 8x8 RGB LED matrix allows you to visualise data from the sensors, and the five-button joystick lets users interact with your projects.
The Sense HAT was originally developed for use on the International Space Station, as part of the educational Astro Pi programme run by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in partnership with the European Space Agency. It is well suited to many projects that require position, motion, orientation, or environmental sensing. The Sense HAT is powered by the Raspberry Pi computer to which it is connected.
An officially supported Python library gives you easy access to all on-board sensors, the LED matrix, and the joystick. The Sense HAT is compatible with any Raspberry Pi model featuring a 40-pin GPIO header.
