The story of Pébéo began in 1919 in beautiful Provence. Established in Saint-Marcel, east of Marseille, the factory was powered by the Canal du Béal, the driving force behind this young company of around twenty employees. The French chemical company was then known as “La Pébéo”, after the molecule used in the production of paint, lead protoxide, which was more commonly known as “Pbo”. At that time, ready-made paints did not yet exist: pigments existed only in their powder form, and were only intended for use by professionals.
In the year 2019, Pébéo celebrated a century of its own brand of savoir-faire, of colour and innovation and a world of art, creativity and curiosity. A century spent reinventing itself and pushing limits, a century defined by the objective to inspire passion, awaken the senses and open minds to colour and the world of art. For Pébéo, this centenary symbolizes sustainable development. Supporting the artists of today as well as those of tomorrow, the house inaugurated a 100% natural modelling clay and its first organic plant-based inks. Respectful of both younger generations and the environment, these products are based on plant-based pigments and are organic and non-GMO as well as gluten free, solvent free and 100% vegan. Pébéo remains fully committed to their objective to use their industrial know-how to inspire and provoke curiosity now and in the years to come. Pébéo Deco shimmering flakes are derived from copper and aluminum sheets and gives a fantastic metal effect to your artwork. Can be used on various materials like canvas, wood, clay, paper etc. Easy to apply with gilding paste.
Use together with Pébéo Deco Gilding Paste. Clean and dry the object to be gilded. Brush over the gilding paste and leave for about 15 minutes. Lay out the gilding flakes and gently brush them into place using a fine soft brush. Protect the flakes against oxidation using varnish.

The Duochrome colours are a unique and were crafted expecially for Pebeo to provide ever-changing colours, depending on the movement and the light, on customised items. It includes 3 shade combinations: Pink/Blue, Blue/Green and Yellow/Purple. The effect appears best on dark surfaces. If you are customising a light surface, apply a black undercoat. They can be worked with a brush or airbrush using the range's lightening-thinning auxiliary.
The colours can be mixed together, allowing you to obtain an infinite number of shades. Once the surface has been prepared, they should be applied in thin, even coats for an even finish. The colours are opaque in a maximum of 3 thin layers. Allow to dry for at least 15 minutes between each coat to avoid re-diluting the lower coat (it is possible to accelerate drying with a hair dryer).
