The Robobit Makecode package supports all versions of the Robobit Buggy. This little buggy can be assembled very quickly using only a screwdriver. No soldering is required

    Mk3 changes from Mk2:
  • Integrated line following sensors
  • Integrated ultrasonic distance sensor with new connector
  • Integrated pen holder mounted at the axis of rotation
  • Integrated 8 element FireLed bar with “auto scanner” software support
  • Motors fitted on top to make it more compact
  • Screwdriver and wrench tools included

Using this great kit you can learn about:

    • Controlling motors with simple Forwards / Reverse controls
    • Controlling the speed of motors in both directions using PWM
    • Use a second BBC micro:bit with the easy-to-use radio software to control the buggy
    • Use the motion sensor on the micro:bit to detect collision with obstacles and avoid them
    • Detect when obstacles get close and change the program to avoid the obstacles
    • "Follow-Me" program that tries to stay a certain distance from the object in front
    • Use the 2 line sensors either side of the non-reflective line to detect the line and keep the buggy on track
    • Write more complex programs that behave as required if you meet a T-Junction or crossing of lines
    • Compare different line following strategies - create a race-track and see which strategy is fastest
    • In combination with the distance sensor, make it avoid obstacles on the track and then re-acquire the line

Picture of Kitronik 'Mini' Prong Soil Moisture Sensor for Micro:bit

Kitronik 'Mini' Prong Soil Moisture Sensor for Micro:bit

    KI 56107
The Mini Prong soil sensor is a short version of the original Prong sensor that has been specially adapted for use with the Kitronik Greenhouse Kit for BBC micro:bit. The Mini Prong soil moisture sensor for BBC microbit is a sensor board that can be connected to a BBC micro:bit with crocodile clips to monitor the moisture present in the soil. The two conductive tines are placed into the soil. Any water or moisture in the soil will conduct to give an analogue voltage that can be read by the BBC micro:bit.

Mini Prong is powered from the 3V supply of the BBC micro:bit. Use either the USB or JST connector on the BBC micro:bit to power the circuit. The board has been designed to work with croc-clips, to connect between the Mini Prong and the BBC micro:bit. When fitted to the Mini Prong moisture sensor, the micro:bit can be coded via any of the micro:bit editors, such as the Microsoft MakeCode editor. The Datasheet at the foot of this page includes technical information and a MakeCode blocks coding example.

Note: To ensure that the mini Prong moisture sensor has a long and fulfilling life, it is better to write your code to perform a moisture check every so often rather than continuously. When the check is performed continuously it promotes rapid erosion of the electrodes.

    Features:
  • Measure soil moisture levels.
  • Attach to the micro:bit with crocodile clips.
  • Compatible with both BBC micro:bit V1 and BBC micro:bit V2.
  • Write code for it with any micro:bit coding editor.

  • Dimensions:
  • Length: 33mm.
  • Height: 43mm.
  • PCB Thickness: 1.6mm.

Picture of Kitronik Tipper Trailer Add On For :MOVE Mini Mk2

Kitronik Tipper Trailer Add On For :MOVE Mini Mk2

    KI 5670
With this, the latest version of Kitronik's Tipper Truck add-on for :MOVE mini MK2 for the BBC microbit, everyone's favourite little programmable robot buggy just got much better. Robots often do more than just :MOVE from A to B, and with this add-on so can :MOVE mini. Although this add on has been designed to work with :MOVE mini MK2 it can also be fitted to the original :MOVE mini. Kitronik have produced two sets of build instructions as there is a slightly different procedure for each. The MK1 and MK2 build instructions can both be found in the resources section below.

This self assembly Tipper Truck add-on kit is made from the same materials as :MOVE mini, designed in keeping with the :MOVE mini aesthetic, and also comes with the servo required to move the Tipper Truck trailer up and down. There is a very simple Servo:Lite board hack that enables the control of the third servo, you can find out how here. Once the kit is fully assembled, the Tipper Truck can be coded with the Microsoft MakeCode Editor.

Note:In order to use this accessory you must enable the third servo functionality to be able to connect the third servo to the Servo:Lite board, some soldering is required in order to do this. The header pins required for this are supplied with this kit. Also, enabling the third servo disables the onboard ZIP LEDs. If you undo the third servo hack and return the board to its original state, the onboard ZIP LEDs will be re-enabled. Kitronik have produced a short guide showing how to enable the third servo and how to revert this change, read it here.

    Features:
  • When attached to :MOVE mini MK2 this kit offers a fun introduction to the world of DIY robotics.
  • Code it with the Microsoft MakeCode Editor.
  • Use in conjunction with an App and control it over Bluetooth.
